It has been more than two years since the release of Canon’s full-field micro lens system EOS R in September 2018. At present, both the body and the lens, Canon full-width system has made great progress. It has also become the first choice for many photography lovers to enter the field of full-width micro lens. Today we will take you to understand this system, which helps you better choice.

Let’s start with the airframe. There are currently four models of Canon’s full-range micro menu: the EOS R, RP, R5 and R6. The EOS R, the earliest of the four, is not recommended because it doesn’t offer the same performance and price as the last three models.

Excellent picture quality Canon – EOS RP

Canon EOS RP, a full-range micro unit with high cost performance. EOS RP is the second full-frame micro camera released by Canon. It is a professional device with high cost performance. It uses a 26.2 megapixel full-frame image sensor, Digic 8 image processor, full-pixel dual-core focusing technology, 5fps continuous shooting speed, and 4K high-definition video recording. At present, the price of the single camera is 1,349 dollars, and the price of the set camera including the RF 24-105mm F4-7.1IS STM lens IS 1,699 dollars. This price in the full frame micro-single field can be said to be very competitive, more suitable for novice photography choice.

The Canon EOS R5 and R6 are new full-frame microphones released together last year. From the performance point of view, the two products are very strong. Both R5 and R6 support 20fps continuous shooting, use the second generation of full pixel dual-core focus technology, and support facial and eye focus, as well as eye focus of animals. The built-in anti-shake system and the RF lens with anti-shake function can provide up to 8 anti-shake effects. The difference is that the R5 has 45 megapixels, while the R6 has 20.1 megapixels. In addition to the convenience of video shooting, the R5 can shoot 8K video and support 8K RAW, while the R6 supports 4K video shooting.

The EOS R5 is priced at 4.019 dollars per unit, while the EOS R6 is priced at 2,479 dollars per unit. In my opinion, R5 should be chosen if there are high requirements for pixels and video shooting, whereas R6 is more cost-effective.

It is worth mentioning that the EOS RP, R5 and R6 are all very handy in handling. Photography enthusiasts who have switched from Canon DSLR can find a familiar feel on these three microphones without much time to get started. All three cameras have screens that can be flipped and touched. The upside of flipping the screen is that it makes it easier for users to view, while the touch makes the control of a professional camera as simple as that of a smartphone.

As a microsystem with interchangeable lens, no matter how strong the body performance is, the lens system needs to be perfected to give full play to its strength. And this for the established lens manufacturer Canon naturally is not difficult. After more than two years of synchronous construction, Canon full-width micro single dedicated RF lens has been very perfect.

At present, there are nine RF zoom lenses, including the big three lens familiar to photography enthusiasts, as well as the RF 28-70mm F2 L USM and RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1L IS USM. For photography beginners, such as RF 24-105mm F4L IS USM, RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM this more practical cost-effective product is also good. The RF 24-200mm F4-6.3 IS USM IS designed for the travelling enthusiast. In addition, RF 1.4x and 2X augmented lenses also allow ecological photography enthusiasts to better view wildlife.

For the convenience of prime lenses, there are three types of 85mm lens, namely RF 85mm F2 Macro IS STM, RF 85mm F1.2L USM and RF 85mm F1.2L USM DS. Consumers can purchase these three products for portrait photography according to their actual needs and budget.

Photography enthusiasts are familiar with the 50mm lens, RF system also provides a rich and economical choice. Entry-level users can choose RF 50mm F1.8STM, the price is more affordable and cost-effective. For high-end users, the RF 50mm F1.2L USM lens has higher optical quality and wider aperture.

I also like the RF 35mm F1.8 Macro IS STM. 35mm is a small, wide-angle lens, so it IS also a good shot. It is also very useful to take some humanistic and documentary style photos with a 35mm focal length. At the same time this lens also has macro capability, some flowers, small scenery close-up is also very useful. This is a universal lens, the size is also very small, especially suitable for hanging up the use.

Canon EOS R5 and R6 are particularly suitable for ecological photography because of their strong performance in continuous shooting and focusing. To this end, Canon has also introduced two very cost-effective long focal prime lens, namely the RF 800mm F11 IS STM and the RF 600mm F11 IS STM. The prices of these two ultra-telephoto lenses are around 9000 yuan and 5000 yuan respectively. Although the maximum aperture is only F11, these two products can only be “sunny days”, but considering the lightweight size and low price of these two ultra-telephoto lenses, they are still very valuable choices.

And for old Canon SLR users, the official lens transfer ring will also allow them to continue to use the Canon EF bayonet lens.

After more than two years of development, Canon’s full-frame micro lens system has achieved good results both in body and lens. The three fuselages meet the diverse needs of different consumers, and from big three to various big light focus lenses, also meet the diverse shooting needs of photography enthusiasts. In 2021, let’s expect the Canon R system to bring us more surprises.
