During the Black Friday period, the 11th generation core thin laptops also achieved good sales. As a rule, we do a horizontal review of new platform products every year, and this year is no exception.
At present, Intel’s 11th Generation Core lightweight models are mainly equipped with core I7-1165G7 and Core I5-1135G7. In addition, very few products are equipped with Core I7-1185G7. However, as we have only got several models of Core I7-1165G7 and Core I5-1135G7 so far, this review will not cover core I7-1185G7 for the time being.

Since there are few processor models involved in the current generation Core platform, we will no longer test each machine individually, but take typical values as performance references after specific tests for both models.
After the first-generation core performance test results, we will focus on the introduction of the new generation Core products in the second half of the horizontal review.

Before we get started, let’s take a look at some of the features of Intel’s Core 10 processor, which include:

Intel 11 Core compared to the tenth generation Ice Lake processor has significant improvement. First, we’ll look at the overall test results, and we’ll post screenshots of the tests later.
In general, Intel’s Core 11th processors have seen substantial performance improvements, particularly in single core performance, as they have enhanced core capabilities, leading to significant acceleration for many productivity applications. In addition, from the perspective of rendering and coding tests, the 11th Core I5 and I7 processors use the same instruction set. It is reasonable that the performance of the two processors is basically equal in this respect even with the same four cores. But when compared vertically, the performance improvements in rendering and coding are quite significant compared to the 10th generation core processors.
Let’s start with the performance of the Core I5-1135G7 processor:
Geekbench 5 tests the comprehensive capability of the processor and shows the Core I5-1135G7 single-core performance score 1264 and multi-core performance score 4589, which are significantly improved compared with the tenth generation Core I5-1035G7 processor.
3DMark Time Spy was used to test the physical performance of the DX 12 processor. The CPU scored 4103 points, which was also significantly improved compared to the previous generation.
V-ray Benchmark is a test program of V-Ray, a widely used rendering software. Core I5-1135G7 processor rendered 6048 ksamples per unit of time. If you compare the performance of the AMD Ryzen 5 4500U processor, which is only 5,238 ksamples, Core 10’s rendering efficiency is pretty good.
H.264 Benchmark is a commonly used coding test tool. Core I5-1135G7 processor can render 2500 frames in 1 minute and 31 seconds, which is a significant improvement compared with the same level processor of core in the 10th generation.
7-ZIP comes with multi-threading performance testing tools. Intel Core I5-1135G7 is a 4-core 8-thread processor. Its compression performance score is 26077MIPS and decompression performance score is 23673MIPS, with a total score of 24875MIPS.
Here’s a look at the core I7-1165G7 processor performance:
The processor scored 1,512 single-core and 5,486-multicore in the Geekbench 5 test, the best performance by a low-power processor to date. And as you can see, thanks to the higher frequency, the Core I7-1165G7 processor outperforms the Core I5-1135G7 in both single-core and multi-core performance.
In the 3DMark Time Spy mode test, the CORE I7-1165G7 CPU scored 4662 for performance, which is a huge improvement over the 10th generation Core’s physical rendering capabilities.
In rendering and video coding tests, we can see that the Core I7-1165G7 processor performs roughly the same as the Core I5-1135G7 processor with the same 4-core eight-thread instruction set, and the overall efficiency is very good.
Thanks to higher main frequency and core frequency capability, core I7-1165G7 processor is superior to most low-power processors in multithreading performance. Its compression performance score is 28907MIPS, decompression performance score is 24767MIPS, comprehensive score is 26837MIPS, and overall efficiency performance is good.
In addition, in terms of performance differences, the performance of Intel’s core I7-1165G7 increased by 27.4% and 33.4%, respectively, compared with the core I7-1065G7 processor. Compared with core I5-1065G7 processor, core I5-1135G7 processor has an 11.7% increase in single-core performance and a 15.9% increase in multi-core performance, showing a significant performance improvement.
In addition to the CPU performance, rendering performance, coding performance, multithreading performance and other improvements, another bright spot is the qualitative change in graphics performance brought by the Torch Xe core display based on the Xe graphics architecture.
The Intel Torch Xe core displays far better graphics than its predecessor, the Plus core, and is no less impressive than the MX 350 and MX450 entry-level models, providing a better balance between work and entertainment for the lightweight laptops built on the core of the decade.
